Edgely Fire Chief Carl Pierce said the woman struck a PECO truck before ending up off the road and into a utility pole. He said the woman may have been trying to avoid a deer in the roadway.

Firefighters used special rescue tools to cut the roof and dashboard of the vehicle, Pierce said.

The driver of the PECO truck was uninjured.
