A shooting incident on Gun Road in Bristol Township’s Levittown section is under investigation.

Officers responded to the street after neighbors reported hearing screaming and shots fired coming from a home on the street. Arriving officers got the man inside the house outside, where he was found to have a semi-automatic handgun. He quickly dropped the gun and was taken into custody, Bristol Township Acting Police Chief Lt. John Godzieba said.

The man then suffered a medical emergency while in custody and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in the stable condition, Godzieba said.

Neighbors reported numerous police units along Gun Road shortly before 4 p.m. and said officers carried a variety of long guns.

Godzieba said a police search of the man’s home turned up no other people, so it appears the man was doing both the shooting and the screaming.
