Police say a Bristol Township man got his hands on more than 13,500 prescription narcotics over a six-month period.

William Rittler, 31, was charged recently with a laundry list of crimes. Some of which included  forgery, insurance fraud, identity theft and acquiring a controlled substance using misrepresentation.

According to police, Rittler  presented over 200 fake prescriptions to a Bristol Township pharmacy between June and late December 2013. Four other prescriptions were mailed through a separate pharmacy based in New England, court papers say.

A police investigation into the 31-year-old kicked off in October after a call from an attentive pharmacist at a chain pharmacy in Levittown.

During the investigation, police said they discovered that Rittler used his insurance card to pay for some of the prescriptions.

Police report Rittler used stock prescription paper to write the fake orders for drugs. According to court papers, the prescriptions included the names and federal identification numbers of two doctors based in Philadelphia.

The doctors’ office in Philadelphia told police they had not prescribed Rittler any medications since March 2013 and he had no permission to reproduce prescriptions, court records state.

Rittler was arraigned and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $250,000.
