Burning insulation in a tank used to hold cleaning solution was quickly smothered by crews from around the area Thursday.

Firefighters were dispatched to a business in the 2900 block of River Road in Bristol Township’s Croydon section around 4:45 p.m. Croydon Fire Company Chief Tom Tryon said the insulation, which was inside a building, was smoldering when units arrived.

The situation was quickly contained and there was little damage, Tryon said. No injuries were reported.

Troyon said a welder was installing a pipe on the tank where the fire occurred shortly before emergency crews were called.

The company where incident happened cleans tanker trucks. The trucks are often used to transport chemicals.

Several fire apparatus from Bristol borough and township staged outside the business during the call.
