Facials, manicures, hair cuts, deep conditioning and styling will be priced around $5, with all money toward the City of Hope charity, which  helps fund HIV/AIDS and cancer research at the City of Hope National Medical Center & Beckman Research Institute.

The students raised $6,000 last year and have been hosting Hope Cut events for the past few years.

“Last year we raised $6,422.00 and our goal this year is to raise $10,000. With the enthusiastic student stylists that BCTHS has, and with the generous support from our community, I am positive we can reach that goal, and even more,” said Shane White, who is BCTHS student council vice president and president of the school’s SkillsUSA program.

The students providing cosmetology services to the community are under the direction of staff. Cosmetology instructor Brandee Garnett said recently the students have completed enough hours to be certified.

“You can’t miss our entrance, we’ll have have balloons out and everything!” Garnett said.
