
ย Impact Thrift Stores has been ย holding a clothing drive at local senior centers – which continues till Tuesday -in celebration of Martin Luther King Day.

On Friday representatives from the thrift shop collected donations at the Falls Township Senior Center.
The collection drive is part of theย Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) program, which is ย one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over, according to Tamika Millerย Director of Community Outreach for Impact Thrift Stores.
โThe goal of Impact Thrift is to continue to support charities and make a difference in the community. With the help of supporters, such as RSVP, we have seen many lives changed for the better. This partnership is the perfect illustration of the community coming together for the greater good,โ Miller said on Friday during the clothing drive.

According to Miller 200 poundsย ย clothing, shoes, books, electronics, housewares,ย jewelry, including a computer that drew plenty of attention were collected during the drive at the center.
Cecelia Murphy, Manager Falls Twp Senior Center, said ย โThis is a way for our members to join in the community effort that helps Impact Thrift fulfill its mission of support for 16 organizations.ย As a non-profit we receive support and good willย from our community that we would like to take this opportunity to give a little back.”

All of the donated items will either be sold at Impact Thrift Stores or responsibly recycled, and the net proceeds will financially support 16 charities in Montgomery and Bucks County. To date, Impact Thriftsโ financial support has surpassed $1.8 million dollars.
“Its a win, win, win” for the community and Impact Thrift Stores, ย Miller said about the drive.
The goal, Miller said, was putting Dr. King’s ideas into practice as communities begin to review and celebrate his impact on in everyday life now.
