Lt. Brendan Triplett, 31, of Souderton, was arraigned last week on charges of institutional sexual assault and two counts of witnesses intimidation. He was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility by District Judge Mark Douple on 10 percent of $75,000 bail.
The Bucks County prison investigator was made aware of allegations just before Thanksgiving that Triplett touched a female inmate’s vagina with his fingers, exposed his penis to her and she masturbated him during Columbus Day weekend in October at the woman’s facility in Doylestown Township, according to court papers filed by Bucks County Detectives.
Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office then took over the case and spoke with the woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted. In late November, she confirmed Triplett inappropriately touched her vagina, court papers say. The woman elaborated in an interview on December 11 that he exposed his penis and that she masturbated him, documents added.

County detectives spoke with a witness who told them she saw the alleged sexual contact between the lieutenant and the inmate. She said, according to authorities, she watched the two stand side-by-side. The woman said she saw “movements consistent with Lt. Triplett touching [the inmate’s] vagina and [the inmate] touching Lt. Triplett’s penis,” court papers state.
The witness told detectives she was contacted by Triplett, who told her not to tell anyone what she saw and to withhold or provide misleading information about the incident. The
Court papers do not identify why the victim is in prison or how long Triplett has worked for the county.
