The Oakford Paranormal Society will be hosting their inaugural Boos and Brews Festival in Penndel on Saturday at the Penndel Fire Hall on Centre Street from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Three local bars – some with haunted histories – will be serving a variety of beer at the event. The Roadhouse in Bristol Township’s Newportville section, The General Davis in Upper Southampton and Yardley’s Continental Tavern will be on hand for the event. The Penndel Fire Company will be selling food. Organizers say proceeds from the sale of food will benefit the fire company.

Money raised by the proceeds will be donated to fund various paranormal educational and training programs throughout the community, Oakford Paranormal Society Director Carol Haughey said.

The Oakford Paranormal Society is a community organization that was founded in early 2013 by Haughey. Haughey, who is certified in Paranormal Investigations in Museum and Historic Sites from the Northern States Conservation Center, has a master’s degree in parapsychology and occult sciences. She has over 20 years of experience working in those fields and also teaches classes psychic phenomena to adult students.

Going forward, the group hopes to have a haunted bus tour for next year’s Boos and Brews Festival.

Tickets cost $30 and can be bought online.
