
A man caught inside a car that was not his on Violet Road in Bristol Township was detained by the owner of the car, police said.
According to police, the female homeowner spotted a man – later identified as Matthew McTamney, 23,of Levittown – entering her car at around 4:30 p.m. on May 18. She went outside and her husband held McTamney down until police arrive, police said.

Police said in court documents that McTamney’s eyes were glassy and red. He later admitted he was high.
A search revealed the 23-year-old had a watch, flashlight, bag of loose change and a knife on him, according to police. None of the items belonged to the homeowner who caught McTamney in their car.
Police did not state why charges were not filed until recently.

McTamney is charged with criminal attempt, loitering and prowling at night time and other offenses.
The charges were sent via mail.
