The county’s trend is being seen nationwide, as new cases in America dropped below 100,000 for the first time since early November.

While cases in Bucks County appear to have flattened, the numbers remain higher than in summer and early fall last year.

In their press release, Bucks County officials cited Dr. Rochelle Walinsky, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as noting “cases are more than two-and-a-half-fold times what we saw over the summer.”

“It’s encouraging to see these trends coming down, but they’re coming down from an extraordinary high place,” she said.

The deaths of 29 Bucks Countians who were COVID-19 patients were reported last week, an increase of 10 deaths over the previous week. There have been 31 deaths reported in February and 121 in January.

Since the pandemic began, Bucks County has seen 43,224 cases and 1,085 deaths.

Ways residents can help reduce the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Wear a mask properly when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
