A Newtown Township man has been accused of an attack in Bristol Borough.

Borough cops were called to a home in the 500 block of Bath Street near the intersection with Buckley Street around 6:20 p.m. Monday for a report of a fight. Upon arriving, an officer found a man and woman tussling.

Once the pair were separated, officers talked with the woman.

The woman said she had been at the home using a pair of scissors to cut a wick from a candle. At that time, the man – identified as Nicholas Alexander Stern, 25 – took her car keys and tried to take a vehicle. The woman attempted to stop Stern from taking the vehicle, but he pushed her, causing injury to her shoulder, according to police.

Stern exited the home and the woman went outside to try to stop him, but he struck her with his hands, police said.

While speaking with police, the woman said she suspected she was stabbed with the scissors. The woman discovered what an officer described as a “deep” stab wound to her leg.

The woman was transported to an area trauma center.
