
A Middletown police car was burnt to a crisp Saturday night.
The newer-model Dodge Charger caught fire on Andover Drive at Farleigh Court in the Tareyton Estates neighborhood. Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said the officer was responding to a call and exited his vehicle right as the fire started.

The blaze destroyed the car before firefighters could put it out.
No injuries were reported.
The intense fire damaged some parked vehicles along the roadway, Bartorilla said.

The chief said the cause appears to be “mechanical failure, nothing criminal or suspicious is suspected.”
Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said the exact cause remains under investigation.
