People Of Levittown: Local Girl Wants To Meet Rocky Balboa

Nikki Maroney is 8 years old and has a goal: she wants to meet her idol Sylvester Stallone, who has played Philly boy Rocky Balboa in several films.

As the latest Rocky film “Creed” is currently films scenes throughout the Philadelphia area, Nikki is close to meeting Stallone – but so far, she hasn’t had any luck.

“She loves Rocky, ever since she saw the movie at the age of 4. Her whole room has Rocky posters,” Kelly Maroney, Nikki’s mom, said.

“I tell my her not to give up on her dream, so I’m supporting her,” she said.

Maroney has been working recently to try to arraign a Rocky meet or sighting but has been turned away at the filming locations.

The Maroney family of Falls Township has gone on many trips to the Rocky statue outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rocky musical in New York and even participated in the Rocky Run.

Nikki, a figure skater of four years, has competed many times to music from the Rocky films. Her coach, Donna Console said Nikki brings her all and always performs to Rocky music, even at an event at the Rothman Rink in Philadelphia on Friday.

“She skates to Rocky. She’s got Rocky everything,” Console said. “It always gets a good reaction.”

Maroney said she is going to keep working to get information on the film and how her daughter can get the chance to meet Stallone.

“We have no idea why she loves Rocky so much but every one knows it. ”
