A vehicle accident in the Croydon section of Newportville Road left two people injured Friday evening.

Police were dispatched the crash on Newportville Road in the area of Neshaminy Road at 6:03 p.m. for the serious two-vehicle crash that involved a Hyundai sedan and a Ford Windstar minivan.

Sgt. Thomas Gaffney said the driver of the minivan was able to free herself and suffered from back and neck injuries. The driver of the Hyundai had to be extricated by firefighters and suffered broken bones, facial injuries and various other wounds. Both are expected to survive.
An initial investigation found the Hyundai was speeding north on Newportville when it went into the northbound lane and hit the minivan, Gaffney told LevittownNow.com late Friday night.
Local photographer Alex Lloyd Gross posted a photo that shows the smashed remains of the minivan.

“Both cars were totally destroyed,” Gaffney said. “They were both lucky to have survived.”
Firefighters from Croydon, Edgely, Levittown No. 2 and Newportville responded to the wreck. The Bucks County and Levittown Fairless-Hills rescue squad also were dispatched.

Bristol Township Fire Police closed down Newportville Road between Neshaminy Road and Hilary Avenue for a period of time following the crash.
