No one was injured, but two adults and 8 young children are homeless after a fire ripped through their Hawthrone Lane, Levittown home Friday afternoon.
The father noticed the fire and scooped one of the children out of the shower. The the rest of the family was able to evacuate, Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

Firefighters arrived to the hilly street just after 1:30 p.m. to find heavy fire and thick black smoke pouring from the windows of the home. Local first responders quickly took action and were able to knock down the flames.
Dippolito said the quick work of fire crews was not enough and the house was destroyed.
The fire started in the area of a boiler-powered heater in the bathroom, the fire marshal said. However, the investigation into the devastating fire is continuing.

American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter spokesman Dave Schrader said the organization is helping the family following the fire.
Dippolito said several pets were also displaced from the fire.

Bristol Township road crews arrived to salt the roadway, which had icy patches formed by water used by firefighters.
The George Washington Elementary School PTO posted the following message after the fire:
A local family lost everything in a fire today. Two of their 8 children are currently enrolled at George Washington. We would like to show our support as a community and help them out any way we can. We will be accepting donations on Tuesday 1/7/14 from 6:30 to 8pm at the school. The kids range in age from 17 to almost 2. We will be posting details about sizes for clothes as soon as we have them but they will need more than clothes. Thank you in advance for your support.
