Learn more about Johnson Realtors in Levittown, which has serviced local communities like Bristol, Newtown, Langhorne, Levittown, and Tullytown, from real estate agent Jackie O’Brien.
- How did you get into the business?
After graduating from Truman High School, I worked for 10 years as an agent at Weichert Realtors in Langhorne before deciding I wanted to own by own business. In 2011, I started Johnson Realtors using money from our retirement accounts. We bought a small office along New Falls Road and put up a sign. With my client base, I opened and we began selling businesses. - What’s the best piece of sales advice you’ve ever been given?
Be true to yourself. I don’t look at myself as a typical sales person because I’m not pushy and I do not like being pushed myself. Being true to myself I seek out information, share it, and guide my clients to make the best decisions for them. I’m honest and very matter-of-fact about everything I do and I keep that attitude with those I work with. - If you were craving an indulgent snack in town, where would you go and what would you get?
I love going out for Sushi with my husband and our friends. Hal Sushi Bar on Olive Street in Bristol is a great spot. It’s BYOB and the Dragon Roll is pretty awesome. - What’s the best thing about selling homes in the area?
There’s a great sense of community wherever you go. Each neighborhood I go into I come across so many people who just love their home, their street, their schools, and their neighborhood. It’s energizing to see their pride. - What’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened to you when showing a house?
I was showing a new construction property in Newtown when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. The stair case in the 3 story home wasn’t complete and you could see all the way down to the basement from the top floor. My clients and I walked to the top with no problem but when it was time to go back down I froze. I couldn’t see my feet because my belly was so big and I was scared to walk down. They both practically carried me all the way down the 3 flights of stairs. - How’s the market in Bucks County these days?
Great! Everything is on sale! In all seriousness, the market is gaining strength week-by-week. There’s still a need for more inventory but I hope more sellers will enter the market because there are a lot of buyers out there just waiting for their perfect home. - What sets one real estate broker apart from another? And how are you unique?
Attitude. I love connecting my clients to their goals and enjoy 97% of what my job entails. That’s right, I admit it’s not 100% fantastic. There can be a lot of road blocks on the way to a home settlement and I do all I can to find a way around them. I like to stay positive and keep pushing to make things work for all parties involved in a transaction. - What’s your advice to someone who’s looking to a buy a new home in the area right now?
Get pre approved for a loan first. Knowing your budget and having an idea of the money you’ll need to purchase a house before falling in love with a particular home can avoid a lot of stress and heartache. If you have a financial plan set, the rest will fall into place. - What’s the most challenging part about your job?
For me personally? It’s finding balance and time for everything. I’m a mom to a 5 year old, with a baby girl on the way (due in April), working a full-time career while also managing the my family’s schedule. Busy? Yes! But boxing classes on the weekend keeps my stress down, and I have met the most wonderful people through the Bucks County community. - How can customers contact you?
