Bristol Prepares For 48th Annual Historic Day

The 48th annual Historic Bristol Day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, in the riverfront town.

The Bristol Cultural and Historic Foundation’s event is slated to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, along Radcliff Street and in Riverfront Park.

Organizers encouraged the public to come out and enjoy the festivities.

The weather forecast looking sunny and seasonable for the celebration.

Historic Bristol Day will include crafters and vendors, entertainment, food vendors, activities at the Grundy Museum, house tours, an antique boat display, children’s corner at Grundy Library, an archaeology dig, a student art show, and tea on the south lawn of the Grundy Museum.

The 14th Annual Bristol Day Car Show will be held at Snyder-Girotti Elementary School at 450 Beaver Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A car cruise through Bristol Borough will follow at 3 p.m.

The car show will feature American and foreign antiques, classics, newer Corvettes, Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs, Challengers, T-Birds, Street Rods, Lowriders, luxuries and exotics.

The Bristol Borough Fire Association will have a Bristol Fire Company tent at Radcliffe and Market streets with a fire prevention presentation with Sparky the Dog at 11 a.m.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the American Hose, Hook, and Ladder and Bristol Consolidated fire companies will have an open house at 250 Pond Street, and the Goodwill Hose and Bristol fire companies will take part in an open house at 198 Wood Street.

Additionally, an art experience and interactive tribute celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s 1861 visit to Bristol en route to his inauguration is planned for the 300 Block of Pond Streeet. The exhibit, which includes an authentic 33-star flag and figures from Bristol in 1861, will feature a special presentation by Bill Pezza.

Pezza’s presentation on how the historic project came to life will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
