New LED lighting has been installed in the Mill Street Parking Lot, as part of an ongoing effort by Bristol Borough to upgrade its infrastructure.

Crews began switching out old light fixtures with new LEDs last month.
The project was funded entirely through grants from the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County using casino impact funds.
“It’s a few hundred thousand dollar project, all paid for through grants, not taxpayer money,” Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said last month.

The timing of the lighting project coincided with several events in the borough’s Mill Street corridor.

The lighting is one of several infrastructure improvements the borough has undertaken using grant funding.

Officials said they are committed to pursuing grant opportunities to fund improvements without burdening taxpayers.
Several years ago, the borough used $1 million in state money to repave and make drainage improvements to the Mill Street Parking Lot, which is prone to tidal flooding from the Delaware River.
