According to a press release from the Lower Moreland Township Police Department in Montgomery County, a report was filed on Aug. 7, 2024, concerning theft and unauthorized use of business checks and gas cards belonging to a company located on Philmont Avenue.

An investigation revealed that between October 2023 and August 2024, approximately $169,281 in unauthorized transactions were made on the businessโ€™s bank account, police stated.

The transactions involved gas cards assigned to employees, including one used by Susan Staples, 53, of the Levittown section of Bristol Township, police said.

Authorities also discovered that multiple cell phones and iPads were ordered on the businessโ€™s cellular phone account without authorization, police said.

Packages containing these items were delivered to the business between Sept. 21, 2023, and Aug. 4, 2024, and were addressed to Staples, investigators reportedly found.

Additional investigation revealed that multiple business checks from the companyโ€™s bank account had been forged and endorsed by Staples. The checks were cashed between Oct. 23, 2023, and Jan. 5, 2024, police said.

Based on the evidence, an arrest warrant was issued for Staples. She turned herself in to police earlier this month, police said.

Staples was preliminarily arraigned before Montgomery County District Judge Michael Quinn on 46 counts, including charges of forgery and receiving stolen property. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
