What you do for Paul Davis Restoration & Renovations?: Estimator/Project Manager
How did you get started in the business?: I’ve been in the construction industry, in some aspect or another, ever since I graduated from Pennsbury in 2002. In 2010 I was laid off from my job back by my current residence. A friend of mine, who was working for Accusource Services LLC at the time had mentioned that Joe McTamney, who was handling their repairs, was looking for some help. I started out in the field doing the physical work and as Accusource began to grow and evolve I was brought into the office to help run the many repair projects that were going on. While in the office I learned the estimating program, Xactimate, which is used by most insurance companies and got knowledgeable with it. In 2013 an opportunity became available for Accusource to become part of the Paul Davis Restoration franchise. I started writing all the mitigation and emergency estimates. As we evolved even more, I was able to train my replacement and started concentrating more on the repair aspect of estimating. Throughout the years I’ve written thousands of estimates and have run hundreds of projects. Currently my attention is becoming more familiar with the commercial side of the industry.
What do you like about the job?: I’d have to say seeing the finished product of something that I was responsible for writing or overseeing is the most rewarding. I am often one of the first contacts that a homeowner will interact with.
How does your company work to overcome challenges and make customers happy?: We have a great team here at Paul Davis Restoration with lots of years of experience. Whether it’s me, another employee, or one of our tradesmen, the knowledge that we have, we can overcome or find a solution to any challenge. Communication is always key to keeping customers happy.
Do you have one big challenge they want to spotlight? What is it? When dealing with insurance claims, homeowners put a lot of faith in me. They’re counting on me to help them in their time of need. It’s a lot to bear sometimes when it’s your responsibility to get the insured paid what they deserve, whether it’s a few thousand or hundreds of thousands of dollars.
What is it like working in the community where you grew up? It’s always a good feeling when out in a public setting for someone to come up to me and thank me or praise the company for helping them.
What is your favorite or most motivating quote? Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
