Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Cedar Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. following reports of a blaze.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames shooting from the front of the house, according to Parkland Fire Company Deputy Chief Bob Barnes.
The home’s resident managed to escape the burning dwelling, saving his puppy as he escaped, Barnes said.

The flames were showing from the front of the house and made their way into the attic, Barnes noted.
Firefighters worked quickly and were able to bring the blaze under control within 30 minutes.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the deputy chief.

The house sustained heavy damage from the fire.
The Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the blaze as of Monday morning.
Barnes highlighted the role of a working smoke detector that alerted the resident there was a fire.

“We can’t emphasize the importance of a working smoke detector in a home,” he stated.
In addition to the Parkland Fire Company, the Feasterville, Langhorne-Middletown, Lower Southampton, Penndel, Trevose, and William Penn fire companies were on the scene. The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad also responded.
