Police Seek Woman Who Allegedly Pointed Gun At Officer

UPDATE: Woman Accused Of Pointing Gun At Cop Arrested In Trenton

Falls Township police on Sunday were searching for a woman who allegedly pulled a handgun on an officer during a well-being check on Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 4 p.m. Saturday, a Falls Township officer was flagged down by a passing motorist to check on a person in the parking lot of Fairless Hills Self Storage on South Oxford Valley Road. The officer found Karen Marie Stevens-Nunez, 47, who is homeless and previously lived in Bristol Borough, sitting outside a blue Mitsubishi hatchback with no registration, police said.

According to police, Stevens-Nunez stood up and reached into the front driver’s compartment. At that point, she pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun. She then turned to face the officer and pointed the gun at him, police said.

Fearing for his safety, the officer put his vehicle in drive, maneuvered around Stevens-Nunez and her vehicle, and created distance while issuing commands for her to drop the weapon via the vehicle’s loudspeaker, police said.

Stevens-Nunez then got into her vehicle and drove away, police said.

The officer activated his vehicle’s overhead lights and siren in pursuit.

Despite the officer’s attempts to stop her, Stevens-Nunez failed to halt, made a right turn out of the shopping center, and proceeded north on South Oxford Valley Road, police said.

During the pursuit, Stevens-Nunez was seen fumbling with her hands and at one point displayed the firearm in a cardboard box, according to investigators.

The chase continued as Stevens-Nunez turned right onto Trenton Road, heading east, and accelerated at a high rate of speed in a 35-mile-per-hour zone, police said.

The officer reported the chase reached speeds of up to 89 miles per hour, but he lost sight of Stevens-Nunez’s vehicle around the intersection with South Olds Boulevard, police said.

As of Sunday afternoon, Stevens-Nunez remained at large.

Police issued a photo of the wanted woman and an image of her car, which featured various phrases, including “True Blue” and “Hate Hurts.”

Overnight, an arrest warrant for Stevens-Nunez on charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, simple assault, and driving at an unsafe speed was issued, according to court records.

Authorities urged anyone who spots Stevens-Nunez to call 9-1-1. Those with information on her whereabouts or the incident are asked to contact Detective Ronald MacPherson at 215-302-3347 or via email at r.macpherson@fallstwppd.com.
