The charges stem from an incident on May 24, 2023, when officers from the Bristol Borough Police Department were dispatched to 1038 Radcliffe Street at 11:35 p.m. for a baby in cardiac arrest. At the scene, officers found the infant unresponsive and cold to the touch.

Police administered CPR, but the baby was pronounced dead at Lower Bucks Hospital at 12:01 a.m.

A doctor who examined the infant noted several injuries, including contusions, bruising, and abrasions, indicative of a battered child. The doctor confirmed that the baby had already passed away before reaching the hospital, according to authorities.

The Bucks County coroner later ruled the death of 4-month-old Timothy Sullivan a homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries.

The investigation revealed that Sullivan had violently shaken the baby on at least two occasions on May 24, 2023, and at least six additional times in the weeks prior, authorities said.

The death of the infant rocked the Bristol Borough community and led to a candlelit vigil to honor the young life lost.

Sullivan remained in custody as of Wednesday awaiting his sentencing.

Gilman has set Sullivan’s sentencing for August 27.
