Basilio DeJesus, a Trenton native, brings two and a half years of experience to the department. He previously served in the Baltimore and Rockville, Maryland, police departments.

Falls Township Supervisors Vice Chairperson Erin Mullen welcomed DeJesus to the police department.

“We’re really excited to have you,” she said.

Police Chief Nelson Whitney also welcomed DeJesus and noted that he “finished very well” in the department’s selection process.

In addition to welcoming Officer DeJesus, the supervisors approved a memorandum of understanding between the township and the nonprofit Family Service Association of Bucks County for the Falls Township and Bristol Township Supporting Recovery Program.

The agreement continues a co-responder model where the Supporting Recovery Program co-responder will divide her time between the Falls Township Police Department and the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, which serves much of Bristol and Falls townships.

The model, which debuted in Falls Township in 2021, pairs a certified recovery specialist with an officer to respond to overdoses and other substance abuse-related calls. The program operates independently from the county’s co-responder program.

The co-responder is funded by a grant from the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission.
