PECO said the grants are focused on helping the environment and have a key focus on tree preservation and projects that enhance environmental equity.
In Bristol Township, the PECO funds will be used to add trees to buffer Municipal Park along Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, according to Township Manager Randee Elton.
Elton credited Bristol Township Parks and Recreation Director Jessica Fox with applying for the grant.

“Our parks are essential gathering spaces that help keep our community healthy and active,” said Middletown Township Board of Supervisors Chairperson Mike Ksiazek. “This grant will empower the township to expand its parks and open space for the first time in nearly ten years.”
Firefighters’ Park is the sixth largest in the township.

Regionwide, PECO awarded $160,000 to be split among 21 municipalities and nonprofits.
“Supporting our communities and local environmental initiatives remains a critical focus area for PECO,” said Mike Innocenzo, PECO’s president and CEO. “Every year, our Green Region Open Space Program allows us to increase our support of creating open spaces, expanding our region’s urban canopy, and working alongside our partners and our customers to combat climate change. I continue to salute our partners for their role in beautifying our communities and our shared pathway to a clean energy future.”
