A gas line that was broken by work crews Wednesday morning was repaired by afternoon.

Bristol Borough authorities reported the gas line break happened in the area of Wood and Lafayette streets around 8:30 a.m.
Police and firefighters from Bristol Borough and Bristol Township arrived and began clearing several residents in the 900 block of Wood Street from their homes. The police chief said borough emergency management moved the displaced residents to a shelter.
PECO crews quickly arrived at the scene and repair work began.

Police said the rupture was caused by a contractor working on a sewer line.
The Bucks County Rescue Squad responded in case they were needed.

A gas leak in Bristol Borough was under repair as of 10 a.m.
The gas leak brought firefighters from Bristol Borough and Bristol Township to the area of Wood and Lafayette streets around 8:45 a.m. They removed several residents from their homes.
