Teachers and the Bristol Township School District have reached a contract agreement.
At their meeting this week, the school board announced the district and teachers’ union, the Bristol Township Education Association, reached a settlement. The previous contract expired more than a year ago.

The contract agreement passed 8-1, with school board member Constance Moore voting against it.
Officials said the new four-year contract that is retroactive to September 1, 2019 is expected to cost the district $4 million over its term.
The school board and teachers’ union agreement follows a Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board report from a fact-finder earlier this year.

The teachers for the 6,400-student district will see increased pay and added movement in to keep the salary competitive with other nearby districts.
The district told the fact-finder the teachers’ already “enjoy one of the more favorable compensation and benefit packages in the area, given the township’s disadvantaged financial state and reliance on high real estate taxes.”

The district employs 454 teachers and they have an average salary of $86,431.
The district and teachers’ union negotiated for some time before talks broke down and the fact-finding process was used.
