A Middletown man has been charged after allegedly threatening people with a firearm in Penndel Borough.
On Wednesday, November 27, Thanksgiving Eve, at around 10 p.m., Penndel officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Crescent Street for a report of an armed subject threatening people with a firearm, according to court papers.

The first officers arrived and began searching for the suspect. Police said patrol units from surrounding communities showed up and assisted in the search, but there was no luck finding the suspect.
One Crescent Street resident told police the subject – identified as Leon Michael Leary, 32 – pulled a gun from his waistband and pulled back the slide. He pointed it at the resident, according to court papers.
“You see this and you know what this is right? I’m not playing with you,” he allegedly told the resident.

Leary then asked the female resident where a man was. He then started to walk away and then turned and ran at the woman while holding the gun. She was able to close her front door and lock it, police said.
Before leaving the woman’s property, Leary kicked the front door and yelled, police said.

After walking away, Leary then approached a vehicle that was parking on Crescent Street and banged on the window. He opened the passenger-side door and pulled the gun on a male passenger, police said.
Leary jabbed the man in the chest with the firearm and asked where the subject he was looking for was located. The passenger said he put his hands up and said he didn’t know the man Leary was talking about, police said.
Leary ended up being taken into custody by police on Thursday, December 5.

Leary was arraigned by an on-call district judge on charges of two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and terroristic threats and single counts of firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $150,000.
