State Sen. Steve Santarsiero and officials from PennDOT took to the roads of the 10th Senate District to look at state-owned roads and bridges this week.

The Tuesday tour started in the upper end of Santarsiero’s district in Doylestown Township and made its way to Lower Bucks County.

Along the tour, the Democratic state senator and PennDOT officials looked at Route 13 in Falls Township and Lincoln Highway in Falls Township in the Levittown area. They also drove Big Oak Road in Lower Makefield, stopped at the Edgewood Road bridge in Lower Makefield, Route 32 in Morrisville Borough, and the North Pennsylvania Avenue bridge that crosses the canal in Morrisville in Lower Bucks County.

The tour was to highlight areas that need to be repaired, highlight upcoming projects, and talk about infrastructure proposals, Santarsiero explained.

PennDOT District 6 Executive Director Kenneth McClain told LevittownNow.com that Lincoln Highway between Oxford Valley Road and West Trenton Avenue in Falls Township is tentatively slated to be repaved next year.

Route 13 in Falls Township is slowly becoming pocked with potholes and is on PennDOT’s radar, McClain said.

Santarsiero said the tour featured projects his staff is aware of, problem areas he has come across in his own travels, and input from constituents who have made complaints.

“I’ve always been a supporter of transportation infrastructure projects … And I continue to be an advocate to get the resources,” he said.

With the state facing a multi-billion dollar backlog of transit projects, Santarsiero said he supports Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s Restore Pennsylvania plan that would derive funding for infrastructure projects from a natural gas severance tax.
