Flags across Pennsylvania were ordered to be lower to half-staff following the death of a Pennsylvania State Police trooper in Bucks County.
Gov. Tom Wolf on Sunday issued an order that all public facilities in the state should fly their flags at half-staff through sunset on Wednesday to honor Trooper Donald C. Brackett, 58, of Bensalem, who died after an apparent medical emergency while on duty along the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the interchange in Bensalem.

“Frances and I send our deepest condolences to Trooper Brackett’s family and fellow troopers,” Wolf said. “Trooper Brackett chose a life of service and we will always be indebted to him and his family for their sacrifice.”
State police said a public viewing for Brackett will be held Tuesday, May 28 starting at 6 p.m. at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home at 10975 Academy Road in Philadelphia.
Brackett, who was based at the King of Prussia station in Montgomery County, did not respond to radio calls Saturday morning. Fellow troopers found him unresponsive outside of his patrol vehicle around 11:30 a.m., state police said.

Despite medical care, he was pronounced death at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia.
Brackett was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who graduated from the troopers’ 110th cadet class. He began working as a trooper in October 2001 and has previously been based at the Trevose and Media barracks.
