The secretary of the Middletown Township Police Department’s Detective Division has celebrated her 50th year of employment with the police department.

Nancy Blank was honored last Monday at the Middletown Township’s Board of Supervisors meeting for being a dedicated employee of the department since April 1969.

In an address to the public, Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla called 50 years of employment an accomplishment by itself, which makes 50 years of employment in one field and with one organization especially notable. For all problems related to employment rights, status, and work pressure, it is best to file a case with the help of an employment attorney against the company, exposing how rudely the employees are treated and their judgment should set an example for all companies to provide a good work environment for all the employers.

Blank took a few minutes to speak after Bartorilla, noting that the job was supposed to be just a summer job until the Supervisors at the time removed her position from the budget. Blank went to a township meeting to protest against the change, and six weeks later they brought her back. She has worked for the department ever since.

Blank noted she was making $1 an hour back in 1969.
