Fairless Hills Artist Among Photographic Exhibit Winners

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association presented awards to photographers like Andy Defrancesco as part of the kickoff for the 26th annual Phillips Mill Photographic Exhibition, which continues through June 24 in New Hope. Winners are as follows:

Best of Show/Best Body of Work: Daniel Goldberg, of Princeton, N.J., “Presence,” “Leaving,” “Please See Me,” “Despair,” “Holding a Torn Universe”

Patron’s Awards:

Dutch Bagley, of Elkins Park, “The Three”

Peter Hewitt, of Doylestown, “Somewhere in Nebraska”

Matthew Kelly, of Holland, “A Nashville Lake”

Christopher Kennedy, of Doylestown, “Do Not Remove”

Sharon Mastrisimone, of Newtown, “Life is a Dream”

David Yarnall, of King of Prussia, “Hamilton on a Grey Day”

Judges Award: J. Verni, of Fairless Hills, “Vecchio Muro #2, #3, #4”

Spencer Saunders Award: Valerie Chaucer-Levine of Hillsborough, N.J., “Ascending,” “Winding”

In all, the exhibition features 94 photos. The works are of various types of media and of many different styles that appeal to art lovers of all types.

The exhibition was juried by Wendy Brusca, an award-winning photographer; Valerie Pfaff, an art and photography teacher and award winner; and Henry Rowan, a national award-winning Photographer. 

“We’re one of the only photo shows that draws amateurs to professionals,” said Claudia Davis, who chaired the show this year.

Rowan, an award-winning photographer and director of the Pennsylvania Center for Photograph, was one of the jurors for this year’s exhibition. He said he was impressed by the works submitted and variety of the offerings submitted to the show.

Goldberg, who won Best of Show/Best Body of Work, said he was impressed by the various works displayed at the show.

For his works, he used his experience as a psychologist in Princeton to focus on the emotions in his human subjects.

“There is something about emotions that interests me and that carries to my photography and being a part of what I do,” he said.

Davis congratulated Goldberg on his work and pointed to the fact the show displays works from all types of photographers as a highlight of the vibrant exhibition.

The 26th annual Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition will be held through June 24 at the Phillips’ Mill Community Association, 2619 River Road in New Hope. The show is open Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for non-members, members are free.
