Bristol Borough committed to giving $10,000 to the Advisory and Oversight Committee in support of the 21st Century Community Learning Center’s Summer STREAM Camp.
The camp serves students in the Bristol Borough School District and the St. Mark School entering grades one through 12 in the fall. The program’s mission, according to Eugene Williams of the Grundy Foundation, is to stop students from regressing over the summer and promote academic advancement.

The program is projected to serve about 300 students on a first come first serve basis, program officials said.
Throughout the day, students receive instruction in academics, performing arts and sports. Free breakfast and lunch is provided by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Nutritional Development Services.
The money from the borough goes towards field trips for the students in the program. In previous years, students have gone to a Trenton Thunder game. This year, the trip will be to Snipes Farm. Another big trip, the pool day is anticipated, but the location of the outing is not set in stone.

The Advisory and Oversight Committee partners with a variety of outside organizations to make the program more enriching for students. The Franklin Institute, Silver Lake Nature Center, and the Heritage Conservancy are all anticipated to come out and make presentations to the students.
The money from the borough is a pre-planned expense and was already accounted for in the budget.
