A Penndel police officer getting a car wash ended up catching a man wanted by state parole agents.

Officer Sean Perry, who is leading the police department while the chief position is vacant, was getting a patrol car washed at a local business in mid-November when he spotted a 38-year-old man he is familiar with working there. Perry left and ran the man’s name, discovering he had an active arrest warrant issued by state parole, according to information released by authorities over the weekend.

Perry returned to the business and tried to talk with the man, but he began to walk away once he saw the police vehicle. As Perry exited his police vehicle and called for the man, he began running and the officer had to chase him, police said.

The 38-year-old man darted through the running car wash before surrendering and being taken into custody after coming out on the other end, police said.
