The district attorney’s office withdrew charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct while Springfield waived his preliminary hearing on a indecent exposure charge. The case will next move to Doylestown for its next phase.

Deputy District Attorney Matt Lannetti said Springfield is working on a deal with prosecutors.

While not wanting to go into the details of the case, Busico said he was pleased that two charges were dropped against the former lawman.

In a story first reported by LevittownNow.com, Springfield was charged in early October after he allegedly was “appearing to masturbate” while watching pornogrphy in the parking lot off Bath Road at Silver Lake Park in Bristol Township. He was off-duty at the time and offered a woman candy, which she refused at the time.

Springfield, according to police paperwork filed by the Bucks County Rangers and Bucks County Detectives, returned to the park in the days following the incident and acted strange.

In speaking with an investigating law enforcement official, the then-sheriff’s deputy said he was only urinating in a bottle at the park. He later added that he was viewing porn and admitted to “probably exactly what they said.”

“I was excited,” Springfield reportedly told an investigator when asked what else happened at the park.

Lannetti said prosecutors have several witnesses to the incident lined up and Springfield’s confession.
