Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said firefighters rapidly extricated a woman trapped in the passenger seat of a mangled blue car. She was freed and rushed by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad to St. Mary Medical Center.

Several other people were taken to area hospitals by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad after the crash, Farry said.

Middletown police were investigating the wreck and the northbound lanes remained closed as of 7 p.m.
