Around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, police allege that McClain entered the Wawa at 5900 Bristol Pike and immediately approached the cashier with his hands inside his jacket in an attempt to imply he was armed with a gun.

While pointing at the cashier, McClain announced “this is a robbery.” When asked if he was joking by the cashier, McClain replied “no” and stated again that he was robbing the store before asking the cashier for money, according to a probable cause affidavit.

McClain was seen standing outside the Wawa when police arrived and was immediately identified by the store manager as the perpetrator. The store manager was also a witness to the attempted robbery.
