A lighting company with a manufacturing plant in Bristol Borough has filed a notice with the state that 114 jobs will be cut.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reported this week that the Hubbell Lighting facility on Beaver Street will close. A layoff notice filed with Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry outlined 93 union jobs and another 21 nonunion jobs that will be cut as part of the closure. The layoffs will be effective between July 8 and October 31.

The immediate reason for the plant’s closure was not released by the South Carolina-based company.

In 2012, a company video touted the Bristol facility and the American-based jobs it provides to local residents.

What will happen to 23-acre Hubbell Lighting property and plant was unclear as of Friday evening. The site was previously owned by Columbia Lighting until it was acquired by Hubbell Lighting.
