Burlington Coat Factory Plans Return To Middletown

After a several year absence, Burlington Coat Factory is returning to Middletown.

According to a sign that has been erected outside the closed Sport Authority building on East Lincoln Highway in Middletown, Burlington Coat Factory is planning to open in 2017. Work to refit the closed Sports Authority is currently under way.

The store would mark a return to the Levittown area for the New Jersey-based department store that has over 500 locations throughout the country. Burlington Coat Factory previously operated a store for several years at the Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center before closing it at the end of the last decade.

The Sport Authority closed in late spring and housed a temporary Halloween store in the fall.

A spokesperson for Burlington Coat Factory was not available for comment last week.
