Catholic Church officials are warning of a possible luring attempt outside one of its facilities in Falls Township.
From the Archdiocese of Philadelphia:
On Monday evening, September 26th, St. Frances Cabrini Parish religious Education Program (PREP) students were leaving the school at 7:45 PM, a fifth grade student was spoken to by a man who was sitting in a van on Goble Court, a street alongside the school. The man spoke to the student, telling him that there had been an accident and his mother had been taken to the hospital. The man said that he was a friend of his mother and that he was to take him to the hospital. The student refused to enter the vehicle At that same moment in time, the student saw his mother approaching. The man drove off immediately.
The student and his mother entered the school building and reported the incident to the parish’s Director of Religious Education (DRE). The DRE immediately contacted the Falls Township Police Department and the pastor of the parish, Monsignor Michael McCormac. Two Falls Township Police officers arrived at the school within minutes. Both the parish and the Archdiocese are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement.
The man who attempted to lure the student was described as Caucasian, in his 40s or 50s with dark hair and some facial hair around the chin. The vehicle was described as a dark, perhaps blue, mini-van. Anyone with additional information should contact the Falls Township Police Department at 215-945-3100.
Information regarding this incident has already been shared with all Saint Frances Cabrini PREP families and with the pastors, principals, and DREs of surrounding parishes.
