The Bristol Township School District’s business manager will be reunited with his old boss.
On Wednesday evening, the Bensalem School Board voted to hire John Steffy as their new director of business operations. Steffy will once again work with former Bristol Township School District Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee, who now leads the Bensalem school system.

According to board minutes reviewed by LevittownNow.com Friday, Steffy’s start date at Bensalem has yet to be determined. His salary will be $149,500 per year.
“The Bensalem Township School District is extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Steffy to join our administrative team,” a statement from Bensalem School District said.
Here’s Steffy’s biography from the Bensalenm School District:
Mr. Steffy has approximately twenty four years of experience as a chief financial manager for Pennsylvania School Districts. Since August 2011, he has served as the Business Manager at the Bristol Township School District. Mr. Steffy is well versed in state and federal subsidies, budgeting, collective bargaining, transportation, facilities management, school construction, debt management and investments, negotiating vendor contracts, purchasing, and other financially related aspects of school business. He also worked in the Auditor General’s office.

Steffy replaced longtime Bristol Township School District employee Gerry Barcik. Barcik retired in 2011 after tending to the district’s finances for 30 years. He worked with Steffy as he transitioned into his new role.
At Bensalem, Steffy will replace former Director of Business Operations Christopher Berdnik, who came to the Bensalem School District from the Centennial School District and left last year to return to Centennial.

Steffy has a bachlor’s degree in accounting from Albright College and received his CPA in 1995. He is married and has a daughter and son.
