A flat tire caused a car to catch on fire and damage a home Tuesday evening.
Firefighters were called to a home near the corner of Woodbourne and Langhorne-Yardley roads in Middletown around 5:40 p.m. Crews arrived and found a car and an attached garage ablaze.

The flames were knocked down and an investigation into the cause began.
Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said a car parked in the garage had a flat tire and was smoldering when the resident parked in the garage. About an hour later, the smoldering tire eventually caught fire and that spread into the structure but was stopped before causing serious damage to the inhabited portion of the home.
The resident did not seem to know about the smoldering tire when they parked the car, McGuire said.
