A month after their big win, the Levittown American 9-year-old boys travel baseball team is still celebrating victory.

The 9-year-old division of the suburban league won their league championship on June 19. The team is one of 37 mostly from Bucks County, Montgomery County and Philadelphia.

Following a fantastic regular season, the Levittown Americanย team entered the playoffs as the twelfthย seed, whichย required them to win five playoff games to be the champions, according to team officials.ย  The boys rose to the challenge, defeating four of the top teams to win all five games.

Their playoff victories included beating the overallย number oneย seed, Warwick, in the semi-finals to earn a place in the finals versus the overall number twoย seed Doylestown.ย  Levittown American then beat Doylestown 10-7 despite being down 4-0 after three innings.

“The boys practiced throughout the off-season and their hard work was evident this season.ย  The three coaches, Keith, Kenney and Walcott, do a great job with the boys.ย  The coaches teach the boys how to play competitive baseball and good sportsmanship, but most importantly the coaches stress to the boys that itโ€™s about having fun,” noted a recent release.

Last year, the boys who were also a low seeded playoff team, finished second. According to officials, the boys have since faced several teams that were labeled as โ€œa strong programโ€, but the boys didnโ€™t care about being the underdog; instead they never gave up and finished strong.
