By converting to more efficient LED fixtures, Falls Township has announced it saved an average of $7,000 per month in energy bills last year, compared with 2011 numbers.
The township, which approved the purchase of 70 colonial style additional LED fixtures on Monday, will complete it’s program to transition to LED lights once those are installed by the Public Works Department in the coming months. The last phase of the project, which was budgeted for $45,000, will cost $41,562 – more than $3,000 under budget.

The colonial style fixtures will be installed on Chilton Court, Durham Court, in the Makefield Village development, Gilbert Drive, Simons Drive, Raleigh Way and Mark Anthony Court, according to officials.
Based on annual electric savings and maintenance cost savings, the township says it is expected to save roughly $151,320 each year simply by converting to much more energy efficient LED fixtures.
