A 10th grader at Bristol Township’s Harry S. Truman High School has been nominated to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.

Priscila Salinas will represent the Levittown high school in Lowell, Massachusetts in June of this year at a meeting where other students ย intending to follow a career involving medical sciences will happen. The students will hear testimony and be given advice on what to expect in medical school and in the medical profession.

Salinas was nominated by Dr. Robert Darling, the medical director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. Salinas was nominated based on her academic record, her leadership potential and “determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine,” the press release indicated.

The honors-only program acts as a way to inspire and direct potential medical students of the future, organizers explained.

“Focused, bright, and determined students like Priscila Salinas are our future and she deserves all the mentoring and guidance we can give her,” said Richard Rossi, the executive director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

The academy offers a number of services to those planning on going into the medical field, such as social networks for future medical students, opportunities for mentoring and guidance, and communication for parents on issues including college planning and finances.
