A Middletown patrol officer will be filling the role of the department’s community resource officer.
Officer Melissa Robison will take on the new role in 2016. She will lead the department in community events, some old and some new. The township noted in a statement that Robison will oversee a citizens’ police academy, a youth police academy, coffee with a cop and a revamped National Night Out.

The officer, who came to Middletown in 2015 after working for the Warminster Police Department, will also oversee quality of life complaints and mediation, run crime prevention seminars, handle accreditation and partner with the township’s school resource officer.
Police officials said they hope the position will enhance the relationship between the police department and the community.
