SEPTA officials said Sunday afternoon that investigators were still working to identify the man struck and killed by a train on the West Trenton Line.

The man was reportedly on the tracks just north of the Middletown border in Lower Makefield around 10 a.m. The train conductor told investigators he saw the man, who is believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, just moments before hitting him, SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said.
“The train engineer reported he saw him in the area, but it wasn’t enough time to apply the brakes,” Busch told LevittownNow.com.
Train service resumed about an 1.5 hours after the death. Police remained on the scene for hours longer.

The cause of death will be determined by the Bucks County Coroner’s Office.

A person was struck and killed by a train in Middletown Lower Makefield Sunday morning.
An emergency official told LevittownNow.com police and medics were called to the tracks mid-morning for reports of a struck pedestrian in the area of the Woodbourne Train Station. SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch confirmed a person was struck and killed just north of the Woodbourne stop.
The strike caused SEPTA to suspended service north of the Woodbourne Train Station starting at around 10 a.m. As of 11:30 a.m., some service was resuming along the tracks, Busch said.

The commuter train that struck the person was carrying 27 passengers, who were later removed from the scene on a shuttle bus, the SEPTA spokesman said.
