History is often best learned from those who lived it, not from a textbook. To that end, Bucks County Community College invites the public to “Holocaust Witnesses Share Their Stories” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, on the Newtown campus.

The free event features Holocaust survivor Danny Goldsmith and World War II veteran Bernie Lens who will share their memories and lessons from the Holocaust. Both are members of the Fegelson-Young-Feinberg Post 697 of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A.
“It’s really important for our students and the community to remember the past,” said Samantha Gross, the history instructor who organized the event. “Sadly, this generation who witnessed so much history is passing away, and we are soon losing that opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of their experiences.”
The presentation takes place in the Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center (formerly the Gateway Auditorium), located in the Gateway Center on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa., 18940. Admission and parking are free.
