SEPTA Officials Pleased With Regional Rail Service For #PopeInPhilly

SEPTA officials are deeming their handling of the papal weekend a success.

Despite selling less than half of a the papal weekend Regional Rail passes allotted, SEPTA still transported 62,275 passengers during the two days. The passengers were transported via special express service from 18 stations, including the Croydon, Levittown and Woodbourne stations.

SEPTA spokesperson Jerri Williams said the transit agency had wait times for those boarding train returning to the suburbs of roughly an hour both Saturday and Sunday nights. The lines to board trains leaving the papal weekend festivities appeared orderly.

Locally, no major complaints or headaches arose at train stations. SEPTA ambassadors were present all the stations to help pilgrims who had questions or needed help.

“Passengers indicated that the logistics, convenience and ease of travel were fantastic and were very appreciative of the hundreds of SEPTA employees who provided assistance,” Williams said.
