Saturday was a special day for military veterans and their families at Sesame Place in Middletown.
The event was a collaboration between Sesame Place Cares and the Wounded Warrior Project, and was a part of Sesame Place’s Waves of Glory initiative.

The invitation to the Wounded Warrior Project members of the tri-state area is the first time that the nonprofit that helps injured veterans has been involved with an event presented by Sesame Place Cares.
“We’re always trying to do something nice for the troops,” said Dana Ryan, the associate manager for public relations and social media, for the park.
One of the Wounded Warrior Project members present at the “dine with me” restaurant for the special character meet and greet interaction was Dan Evans and his family.

Evans served as a nuclear engineer on nuclear submarines. He was stationed in Groton, Connecticut and Seattle. Throughout his service, Evans served three deployments to the Persian Gulf and the horn of Africa.
“It’s great. The family is having a lot of fun, and the kids are loving it,” Evans explained.
Evans and his family live about a half hour away from Sesame Place, in Flemington, New Jersey.
